Open Source (2021)

I published my dissertation as Open Source, a magazine for designers, coders and anyone who has significant input into the design of a technological system. It aims to analyse discriminative technology through the lens of historical biases, in order to understand how systems of oppression are being reproduced through technology.

Each magazine issue focuses on a different type of discriminative technology and unpacks the societal biases that have been unknowingly embedded into it by designers.

The magazine design is inspired by Retro Futurism; a movement which depicts the past’s vision of the future, reflecting the concept behind Open Source.
